Just today, I made the picture with the 508th PIR my screen saver. My Dad was in WWII. He had been in the 82nd Airborne and said he was a pathfinder. He got into trouble in an incident just prior to Normandy involving race riots in Leicester, England. I do not know all of the details but his commanding officer got him out of the brig with the understanding that his assignment would probably result in his death. All WWII pictures of Dad have him in Airborne dress, but he was discharged from a non-airborne unit in early 1946. I believe my Dad is also in this picture. 2nd row from front, 1st man wearing helmet from the right side - may be holding cut of coffee - blond guy next to him w/o helmet and coffee - he is directly in back of 2nd guy on 1st row on the right side. Dad is not listed on their rosters that I have found thus far. He had a friend named Johnson. He was hurt in a practice jump sometime after D-Day. Dad died in 2001.
